Hi Hi! so this is a question I got on fb but I wanted to answer it on here just incase there is anyone else who might benefit from this..
hellew… I just wanted to ask a couple of questions… for someone who has no previous experience with makeup and on a budget, what kind of makeup kit or essentials would you suggest they start of with? And how does one go about selecting natural looks that will aesthetically enhance the face rather than cover it? And finally I would like to find out more about skin care regimes that help improve the skin
For makeup on a budget, the essentials I would recommend are
-Foundation (more budget friendly brands are revlon photoready, maybelline dream matte mouse, and cover girl. But if you want to invest a little more I would suggest makeup forever or NARS)
-Powder (powder is really important because if you have good skin you can use it without foundation. I really like the MAC mineralized skin finish because it has enough coverage to be used without foundation- which is excellent if you are on a budget and you dont want too many products in your make up kit. Other brands I like are covergirl’s loose powder)
-Lipstick ( I would go for a really neutral/ nude colour which you can use both in the day time and at night :) )
-eyeliner (both pencil and liquid depending on the occassion. I love covergirl’s pencil liners because they are really soft and I also like maybelline’s liquid liner. Honestly, the brand doesn’t really matter for eyeliner)
-Mascara (very important because I feel like you can use this without using eyeliner and your eyes will just pop)
I think this is a really simple makeup kit for starters and then you can build on what you have as you find out what you like and what you don’t like. Some other products you can have but aren’t really necessary are blush, concealer.
The brushes I think are really important are
-Flat top brush for foundation and powder.
-Eyebrow groomer (even if you aren’t going to pencil them in, you can just brush them nicely in place)
With the natural looks, I suggest using a lot of browns and neutral eyeshadows and then pencil eyeliner. Depending on where you are going, you can choose a more smokey natural look (darker browns) or a less intense look.
Skin care regimens
-Drink a lot of water [I try to drink as much water as I can during the day so I carry a water bottle around with me. I also drink one full glass of water when I wake up and one right before bed.]
-Make sure you take off all your makeup before you go to bed
-exfoliate often ( I like using facewashes which exfoliate as well)
-Rest your face (try not to wear a full face of makeup everyday so that your pores can rest a little bit)
-I also make sure I moisturize my face before I go to bed
This is a long one :) Hope this is helpfull and thanks for readinggg!
